The story of Pai
Paihikara was given to me in May 2012 as a gift before my first self supported cycle tour in Europe. He rode on the top of my panniers for most of the 5,000km trip through Holland, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Norway. Pai has been the inspiration behind my cycling kiwi logo.
Pai joins me on all my long rides around our fantastic country and through roads and trails overseas.
If you wish to read about Pai's trips click here and you will go to his travel page where you can follow his adventures.
My name is Di Michels and I have a passion for the outdoors and my incredible country - New Zealand. I have had the privilege to represent New Zealand in rowing, orienteering and mountain bike orienteering. I have participated in adventure racing which encompasses lots of different sports including biking, trekking and kayaking. These sports have enabled me to go to special places in New Zealand and around the world. I'm not so driven to be actively involved in competitive sport now but spend a lot of time on my bike touring with Pai in New Zealand and overseas.
I am a graphic designer and have produced a series of shirts that epitomise the clean, fresh, fun culture of New Zealand. If you’re a visitor to our shores I have a really nice selection of souvenir shirts for you. If you are a local heading overseas then these will identify you as a true green kiwi!
Most Kiwi Cycling shirts are made with 180gms moisture wicking fabrics and printed with bright coloured sublimated designs. They are functional and comfortable.
Some of these items are specific for women but you will find styles that have a unisex shape to let the guys have a bit of the fun too. I will be introducing new designs on a regular basis so come back and check out the new stuff.
New Zealand has a fine reputation world wide for our pristine environment and our focus on protecting this valuable asset. With this in mind we have created some fun, novelty pieces of art and jewelry from re-cycled bike parts. These items are hand made here in New Zealand.
